British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
