FC Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in La Liga two and a half years since relocating so building work could begin.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside as per the current authorization. When completed, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barça organized a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium on 7 November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
