Star Denies Anti-Vaxxer Position Following Lending His Voice To Disputed Covid Documentary
The acclaimed actor has lent his voice to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of vaccinations and lauds former cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Documentary's Provocative Origins
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a well-known publication written by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the health crisis for allegations that Covid was a result of a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The book's co-author, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with controversial figure the Infowars host. Heckenlively recently posted hailing Neeson's participation in the film.
An Unequivocal Statement
Representatives for Liam Neeson have issued a statement strongly denying suggestions that he supports anti-vaccine views.
"We all understand that corruption might be present within the drug industry, but that should never be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the response reads. "Liam has never been, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with Unicef underscores his long-held support for global immunisation initiatives."
The response continued that the actor was not involved in crafting the documentary's narrative and that inquiries about its claims ought to go to the filmmakers.
Key Claims Within the Film
As presented, the script provided by Neeson features several controversial points:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have called for "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It declares that "medical science has become dangerously politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured saying, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they are not properly vetted."
- The narration further attacks Covid lockdowns, saying they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it cites a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Controversy and Recent Debates
It also references a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the subject of a correction by the network for violations of guidelines.
Last month, RFK Jr directed the CDC to change its official position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the documentary, contrary to a new report from the WHO confirming no evidence has been found.
A Previous Record of Endorsement
Differing from the documentary's narrative, Neeson has in the past shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," stating that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
The film concludes with Neeson's voice stating, "This marks not the end of our story. It is the beginning of a new chapter."
