The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Significant Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, shortly thereafter, the network unveiled a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, evoking a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. At a time often defined by bleakness, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Network Praise

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who found the show and championed its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about watching this charming family navigate their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to evolve comedy past its prevailing cynical streak. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa could potentially help usher in that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to enjoy the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
