Tottenham Manager Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not Genuine Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Tension on Frank

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be real Tottenham fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Spurs conceded a pair of scores in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth top-flight home loss of 2025.

But the primary talking point was Fulham's second goal when Vicario lost the ball far outside his area.

He ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the touchline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds later when the ball came to Vicario again, some Spurs fans booed him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

One of those jeering episodes really angered the manager.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and jeered after, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager commented regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be true Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright booing after the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are with one another going forward."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a early advantage before Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second-half performance.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "completely avoidable".

"I do understand the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part Vicario is playing. He is a great team player, he's a real figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game

Italy national team Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated following the match that he had to take the criticism.

"That score was a error of mine, I accept accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad way. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."

He stated being booed "is part of football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It is on the team to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are missing in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor loss and it's hard to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was not an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second most distant top division score of the campaign – following Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between the keeper exiting of his area and the midfielder striking – which was five moments following the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for ages," he said.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of additional time. After that it was all about trying to make the correct connection and place it on target. I had a positive feeling, the moment it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

While Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an overall bad day for Spurs to extend their home woes.

This was their tenth home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint team record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to come before the end of the year.

Only one of those wins have come after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.

"During in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a single story, today we were defeated in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can use to learn."

Spurs have lost four straight home London derbies for the initial time in the Premier League.

And they are recording 9.5 shots and 3.2 shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest rates on file in a single campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must accept the stick," the pundit said. "He's accepted a prestigious job at a major football club with enormous expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
