A ex-military leader of the the nation's space operations center will report back next month on how the state-backed organization can most effectively assist the extent of national AI objectives in defense, national security and information gathering.

Strategic Realignment

The organization's leader, a former Amazon UK boss, confirmed that 78 different research projects at the organization with 440 employees have been closed, spun out or completed because they aren't consistent with the revised strategy.

Internal Challenges

The institute has faced organizational challenges since last year as staff protested against changes, culminating in a team of staff members registering an official concern to the proper supervisory commission.

The institute's leadership stated that these staff complaints were independently investigated by a neutral third party that found them to have lack merit.
